Josh Dowdy is a husband, dad, and Sunday school teacher in Birmingham, AL. While earning an MA in Religion at Baylor University, he established an 0–3 ping pong record against Heisman Trophy winners.

After catching every inning of a softball double header on his 40th birthday, Dowdy went on to complete his church's Ministry Training Institute in 2020.
